OUR TRIP OUT WEST

Heinz asked me if I wanted to go
on a trip to outback Australia,
and naturally, I said yes!!!

So, we packed up a few clothes,
the digital camera, and the laptop,
and off we went.

Now, of course, I had an itinerary
when we started out,
but like most good plans of mice and men,
they changed as we traveled.

Our intentions were to go to see
'The Dish' at Parkes NSW,
then travel to Dubbo to visit
'The Western Plains Zoo',
on to Lightning Ridge NSW
to fossick for opals,
then return home through Wellington NSW
and visit the caves there.
It almost worked!
We did make it to most places,
but not necessarily in the order planned.
We left home in Canberra
on Saturday, December 27, 2003,
at 0730 hours.
The weather was cloudy and cool.
We travelled the Barton Highway to Yass,
then Lachlan Valley Way to Cowra.
By this time (0830 hours),
the cloud cover was gone,
and it was sunny and warm.
At 0900 hours, we arrived at Boorowa,
superb parrot country.

By 1000 hours, we had turned on the air conditioner.  At 1005 hours, we stopped at McDonald's in Cowra,
for some breakfast, then it was back on the road again,
through Gooloogong.
